Golden Boy Pizza

A North Beach institution since 1978 that sells nothing but a square, focaccia-based pizza its own founder describes as "focaccia with pizza topping," now run by the founder's sons. A named KQED food editor calls the result "uniquely and idiosyncratically Bay Area" and records its official name for the style, "San Francilian," predating the region's later wave of Detroit-style pizza by about four decades. No enum discipline value fits a San Francilian pie, which is a genuinely distinct regional form rather than a Sicilian or Detroit import by another name.
